Colmer’s Hill

A local landmark, much beloved by residents and arriving holiday visitors alike: cries of “we’re nearly there” have probably echoed round more than a few cars driving west from Bridport. One of several conical hills nearby, its crown of pine trees is distinctive. Since this photo was taken, some replacement saplings now stubble the fringes of the summit.

Colmer's Hill

The hill was clothed with dead bracken giving it a colourful mantle of russet punctuated by the green path up to the top. A field gate on a footpath round Symondsbury gives this sudden open view, drawing a sigh of appreciation from the walkers with me.
