Most of the photos you will find here are taken in and around the pretty coastal town of Lyme Regis in the southwest of England. Lyme is surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site which stretches west into Devon and east into Dorset. The hinterland is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), and it offers many opportunities for the landscape photographer.

Lois specialises in natural abstracts, seaside scenes and landscapes, from West Dorset and East Devon, and farther afield into Exmoor and Dartmoor for example. "It's a challenge to find new angles on familiar places, but one which I relish", she says. "Although some of the shots here are typical tourist mementos, I have also captured some of the little details and quirky corners of Lyme and its surroundings that others may have missed." You can read more about this in her article: a sense of place.

How to use the site

The photos are grouped in different portfolios (for example, 'Beach Huts' and 'Field Studies', which you can choose using the links in the menu. Or you can choose to search for images by their categories (e.g. landscapes, seascapes, close-ups) or - a special feature for those of an artistic bent - by predominant colour or design theme. Once you have some photos displayed, click on the thumbnail images or the photo title to see a larger version of the photo, together with a description.

Also on the site: how to buy prints or stock images, and some essays on the creative and aesthetic aspects of photography. New for August: after a long period when I was very busy, I've finally added some new photos to the site.
